According to Disney, Cinemagoers in the UK and Ireland continue to return to James Cameron’s Pandora to explore the new water clans, species and environments in the long awaited Avatar sequel.
Powering through the holiday period, Avatar: The Way Of Water continued its box office domination taking a further £10,638,937 at the box office so far, bringing the total for the UK and Ireland to £30,744,042.
The second week in cinemas puts the sequel ahead of its predecessor up 15% with less days of trade. Across the 4-day long weekend, ticket sales accounted for 63% of the market share and solidified the film as one of the top 10 biggest films of 2022.
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure.
Directed by James Cameron, Avatar: The Way of Water stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Rabisi and Kate Winslet.
The film is in UK and Irish cinemas now.
