X-Men: Apocalypse – New Trailer

Fox has finally released the first official trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, watch it here…

Wow, that really is a jam packed trailer! I’ve really enjoyed the prequels X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past so far, but X-Men films can be a little hit and miss. So what does this trailer bring to the table? Well we have a lot of young versions of the main characters from the original trilogy; Jean, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and FINALLY Jubilee (hooray)! The big bad of the film will be Apocalypse, one of the first mutants ever, who we first saw at the end credits of X-Men: Days of Future Past telekinetically building a pyramid while being worshiped. Oh and with the four horseman of the Apocalypse watching in the background:

If, like me, you were big fans of the 90’s cartoon you’ll know Apocalypse is one of the main antagonists of the X-Men, he was an Ancient Egyptian slave prior to discovering his powers and in the comics always surrounds himself with the four horsemen; war, death, famine and pestilence. In X-Men Apocalypse his team of horseman will comprise of Magneto, Angel, Storm and a character we have yet to see – Psylocke. Not sure about the look Apocalypse in this trailer though, does anyone remember Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie? I reckon Apocalypse would win a fancy dress competition as Ivan Ooze!

We have Quicksilver returning; his scene in Days of Future Past completely stole the show and was miles better than the Marvel version of the character! Jennifer Lawrence also reprises her role as Mystique, but strangely enough is being portrayed as one of the main heroes in the trailer. This is definitely an interesting twist on her character in the comics and cartoons, I’m very interested to see how this pans out! We also finally get a fully transformed Charles Xavier as James McAvoy sports the iconic baldness of the Professor, eek! I think my highlight of the trailer though is Warren Worthington’s transformation from Angel to Archangel, aka the horseman of death. How awesome is his costume – I mean come on, razor sharp feathers?!

X-Men: Apocalypse is due to hit cinemas in May 2016 – I can’t wait!
