As teased earlier this week, Warner Bros Pictures has released the red band trailer for the live-action Mortal Kombat and they haven’t held back on the brutality and bloodshed!
The film, which is produced by James Wan and directed by Simon McQuoid, is based on the iconic video game franchise and sees Earth’s greatest champions fight against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe.
MMA fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan) teams up and trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), Kung Lao (Max Huang) and rogue mercenary Kano (Josh Lawson) at the temple of Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano), an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm. But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana—the immense power from within his soul—in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all?

In Mortal Kombat, MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down.
