The Lego Batman Movie: Directors Call It a “90-Minute Easter Egg.”

The Lego Batman Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are busy guys these days, what with the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Film on the horizon as well as The LEGO Ninjago Movie and The LEGO Movie Sequel in the pipeline. But, somehow, the guys managed to fit in an interview with Collider to chat about the The LEGO Batman Movie.

The duo were asked which era of Batman the film will cover, “There is no favoritism, and there are no limits,” Lord commented, with Miller adding “Chris McKay, the director of the movie, is a real Batman aficionado and knows really arcane stuff that was only in one issue of the comic book in 1972, and that sort of thing.”

“And he has a very large Catwoman tattoo on his forearm,” Lord noted.

The duo also comment how much the film will include nods for fans, “So, it is chock full of stuff for Batman aficionados. It is just a 90-minute Easter egg.” said Miller, with Lord adding “And it heavily honors the comics. So, it covers all the way through to Batman v Superman.”

The LEGO Batman Movie stars Will Arnett as Batman, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Michael Cera as Robin, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, and Mariah Carey as Mayor Marion Grange. The film is set for release in February of 2017.
