Shaun Sipose (The Vampire Diaries, Melrose Place) is set to play the series regular role of Adam Strange in the Syfy channel’s Superman prequel Krypton according to Deadline.
Adam Strange was created by Julius Schwartz and Murphy Anderson and first appeared in Showcase #78 (November 1958). The character was an archaeologist on Earth before being transported to the planet of Rann via the ‘Zeta Beam’. Adam later became the protector of the Rann, using their advanced technology to ward off extraterrestrial threats.
Sipos’ Adam Strange is described in the show as ‘a world-weary human, who finds himself stranded on Krypton as the unlikely mentor to Seg-El, Superman’s grandfather.’
Strange was one of several DC characters revealed at the Krypton panel at Comic Con, as well as Brainiac, Doomsday and Hawkman.
Based on DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
