Marvel Studios has confirmed that principal photography has begun on the next phase of the MCU with Carol Danvers’ solo adventure Captain Marvel! But the most exciting news featured in the official press release was that some very familiar faces are set to make a return to the MCU, with Guardians of the Galaxy stars Lee Pace and Djimon Honsou, and Avengers/Agents of SHIELD star Clark Gregg all slated to feature in the film!
The film has started principal photography in Los Angeles, California, which will also serve as the production base for the film. The crew will also shoot on location in Fresno, California, as well as locations in Louisiana, including Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it make sense to see these characters. It’ll be great to see Clark Gregg back as Coulson on the big screen, as well as the underused Lee Pace as Kree villain Ronan.
Brie Larson has also been training with Brigadier General Jeannie Leavitt, 57th Wing Commander, on a recent trip to Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. Check out the image below!
Set for release in the US on March 8, 2019, Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The film stars Academy Award® winner Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
