To celebrate the digital release of Cathy Yan’s fantastically fun, female-led DC outing, Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, we thought we’d take a look back at some of the film’s best moments, and boy there’s a lot of them!
With so many hilarious and kick ass moments to choose from, we somehow managed to whittle them down to our top 5, and yes Roman Sionis reaction to the snot bubble would definitely be number 6!
(Warning, there are significant spoilers ahead for Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey.)
5. “You killed my sandwich”
Egg, bacon, American cheese. Soft, toasted buttered roll. Just a dash of hot sauce. What a way to start my new life.
So Harley’s just been dumped by the Joker, blown up ACE chemicals and now all she wants is that Bodega-Style breakfast sandwich to make her feel better – we feel you girl! And while that brief relationship doesn’t last long thanks to Harley’s first encounter with Renee Montoya, it was possibly one of THE funniest (and most relatable) lines in the movie.

4. Jail house rock
While breaking into Gotham PD to free Cass and retrieve the diamond, Harley manages to overload the computer system, triggering the sprinkler system and opening the cell doors in the process. Queue a super stylised fight scene which cuts between slow-motion and x2 speed as Harley single-handedly takes out the prisoners using her gymnastic capabilities.
Choreographed by John Wick director and renowned stunt coordinator, Chad Stahelski, along with his team at 87eleven, the prison fight scene was heavily influenced by Gareth Evan’s The Raid 2 and Jackie Chan’s fighting style. Oh and did I mention, Margot Robbie impressively did a lot of her own stunts?!
3. Need a hair tie?
With Harley finally teaming up with Renee Montoya, Huntress and Dinah/Black Canary to take down Sionis’ men in the abandoned funhouse, we get possibly one of the most fun fight sequences, featuring roller skating, in the film!
Each of the women’s unique fighting styles are wonderfully highlighted, with many of the main actors performing many of their own stunts. The extra detail of Harley handing a hair tie to Dinah mid fight was a lovely little touch from Cathy Yen; solidifying the women’s friendship and making it feel that little bit more real.
2. The Canary Cry
I told you she had a killer voice.
I don’t know if it was just me, but I was looking forward to this moment the entire film, and wow, it certainly didn’t disappoint!
With most of the film spent denying her gifts, Dinah finally embraced the power within and unleashed her canary cry in order to clear the path to Roman and Cassandra and wow, what a powerful moment!
1. The Birds of Prey
Following the defeat of Black Mask and his goons, how good was it to finally see Renee Montoya, Huntress and Black Canary teaming up as the Birds of Prey in comic accurate costumes!
The final moments of the film definitely ramped up the excitement for a Birds of Prey spinoff – whether that’s a sequel or a significant team cameo in a future film such as The Suicide Squad.
