New Hawkeye series in the works at Disney+ with Jeremy Renner and Kate Bishop confirmed

Hawkeye appears to be the next Marvel Cinematic Universe character who’s getting their own spin-off series at new streaming service Disney+, joining Falcon and Winter Soldier, as well as Loki, Vision, and Scarlet Witch.

Variety reports that Disney are developing the series starring Jeremy Renner’s archer Hawkeye, with the project said “to be an adventure series in which Clint Barton, will pass the torch to Kate Bishop.”

If you’re not up to speed with the comics, Kate Bishop is a fan favourite character who took up the mantle of Hawkeye following Barton, and was a member of the Young Avengers, before more recently joining the West Coast Avengers. The character was created by writer Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung and first appeared in Young Avengers #1 back in April 2005.

This is pretty exciting for fans to finally see the first female Hawkeye on screen, and as we saw in the Avengers: Endgame trailer, Renner’s Hawkeye has taken up the identity of Ronin. Could we see a Bishop cameo in the film perhaps? Only time will tell!

Avengers: Endgame is set for release on April 26, 2019.
