A new still has been released from the highly anticipated Black Panther, the next addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which spotlights key characters of the Dora Milaje.
This group of warriors are the personal bodyguards of the Wakandan king aka The Black Panther, and are recruited from every tribe of Wakanda. In the photo below from USA, we see Okoye (The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira) head up the Dora Milaje and Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) centre stage as the powerful protectors of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman.) Check out the image below!
“She’s very passionate about her work,” Nyong’o teases about Nakia, “she has to decide where her allegiance lies and what comes first.” Her character is known as ‘war dog’ in the film.
“It’s her job to take care of it, and she takes that job seriously,” says Gurira, adding that Wakanda is an “astoundingly cool” place. “It’s a world that is utterly plausible and tangible and yet a little larger than life at the same time.”
After the events of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. However, T’Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakanadan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.
Black Panther is currently scheduled for UK release on 13 February 2018.
