Audiences were hooked on opening weekend as beloved characters Moana and Maui returned to the big screen in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ highly anticipated sequel Moana 2.
With wind in its sails, Moana 2 blew into cinemas becoming the biggest animated opening of 2024, taking in £12M at the UK & Ireland box office and accounting for 45% of all ticket sales across the three-day weekend.
The epic animated feature has also become the 3rd biggest opening of 2024 in the UK & Ireland.
- Moana 2 opened to a record breaking global cume of $386.3M ($221.0M Domestic and $165.3M International).
- Moana 2 had the 2nd highest opening weekend at the global box office in 2024 to date, behind only Deadpool & Wolverine.
