Michaela Coel joins the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ cast

Now this is exciting! I May Destroy You writer, director and lead actor Michaela Coel has joined the ensemble cast for upcoming Marvel sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

According to Variety, Coel has joined director Ryan Coogler at Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios, where production reportedly began last month. Obviously Marvel Studios is keeping quiet on the update, as they have yet to officially comment on the casting.

Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett are all expected to reprise their original roles in the highly anticipated sequel.

While much is being kept under wraps, we do know that Chadwick Boseman’s role as the heroic King T’Challa will not be recast following his tragic death, however the film will address this. Disney Investor Day in December 2020 confirmed that the sequel would explore “all of the rich and varied characters” from the first movie.

Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever is set for release in UK cinemas 8 July 2022.
