Michael Rooker in talks to star in James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor Michael Rooker is in talks to reunite with director James Gunn for sequel The Suicide Squad.

According to The Wrap, the actor is set to play King Shark, most recently portrayed in the CW’s The Flash, if confirmed.

The character was created by Karl Kesel and briefly appeared in Superboy vol. 3 #0, in October 1994 before making his first full appearance in Superboy vol. 3, #9 (Nov. 1994). The supervillain was originally born in Hawaii and is a humanoid shark, his father is “The King of All Sharks”— also known as the Shark God.

If talks are successful, Gunn will join fellow cast members Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis.

The sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad is set for release on Aug. 6, 2021, with Peter Safran and Charles Roven producing.
