Live-action “Silk” series in the works with Sony

It appears that Cindy Moon, aka Silk, will be the next Marvel character to get their own TV series.

According to Variety, Sony, who owns all of the rights to the Spider-Man universe, is developing the new series. Lauren Moon is reportedly in talks to write the script.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are also on board as executive producers, along with former Sony Pictures Entertainment head Amy Pascal (Atypical, Good Trouble).

An attached streaming service or network is yet to be announced. Although not officially attached, the outlet is connecting Amazon Prime Video with the new series.

Originally created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, Silk made her debut in “The Amazing Spider-Man #1” in 2014. In the comics, Cindy was bitten by the same radioactive spider as classmate Peter Parker, and developed similar super powers.

Lord & Miller’s deal with Sony includes working with the studio to develop a “suite” of television series. This will be based on Sony’s Marvel characters, with Silk set to become the first of the characters. With the popularity of Spider-Gwen and Spider Woman, I’m sure it won’t be long till there’s a whole raft of shows teaming up for a crossover, like Netflix’s The Defenders.
