Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’ watches the world burn in new IMAX poster

With the release of Todd Phillip’s highly anticipated Joker just around the corner, IMAX has released their first official poster for the film, and it features a clever callback to Christopher Nolan’s iconic movie, The Dark Knight.

Describing the Joker’s reasoning for the chaos ensued, Michael Caine’s Alfred Pennyworth explains to Bruce Wayne: “Some men just want to watch the World burn.” In this stunning new poster Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is doing exactly that…

Director Todd Phillips “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.

Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, Marc Maron, Douglas Hodge, Josh Pais and Leigh Gill.

Joker will be in cinemas 4th October, 2019 by Warner Bros. Pictures
