JK Simmons in talks to reprise Commissioner Gordon role in ‘Batgirl’

Good news for fans of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, as it appears that JK Simmons may reprise his (brief) role as Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming Batgirl solo spinoff.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Spider-Man actor is currently in talks to to star in the film, which has recently unveiled In The Heights‘ Leslie Grace as the titular star.

They’ll be joining Bad Boys For Life filmmaker Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will direct the film, with a script by Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson, who also wrote The Flash for DC.

The plot has been kept closely guarded so far, but the film will undoubtedly serve as origins tale for Barbara Gordon, who the daughter of Gotham City Police Commissioner Jim Gordon and has had many guises, most notably Batgirl and Oracle, and is a main staple of the Bat family.

If JK Simmons does star in the flick, this would seemingly confirm that it would be set in the Snyder universe – proving a continuation of the cinematic world.

The film will stream exclusively on HBO Max, marking one of the first major DC properties to debut exclusively on the streamer.
