Gemma Chan joins the cast of Captain Marvel as Minn-Erva

Deadline has announced that the Humans and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them star, Gemma Chan, has joined the growing cast of upcoming Marvel film, Captain Marvel as Kree geneticist and spy, Minn-Erva.

In the comics, Minn-Erva was a Kree geneticist and spy who came to Earth disguised as Doctor Minerva in search of Captain Mar-Vell. Her goal is to use his genes to unlock and progress the Kree genetics. She has very similar powers as Captain Marvel which include superhuman strength, flight and durability.

Chan is set to star in AMC/Channel4’s Humans with Season 3 due later this year as well as opposite Constance Wu in Warner Bros’ adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s bestselling novel, Crazy Rich Asians. Next up, Chan will be in Focus Features’ Mary Queen Of Scots, opposite Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan.

Captain Marvel is directed by Ann Bolen and Ryan Fleck and stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Walter Lawson/Mar-Vell, as well as Ben Mendelsohn and DeWanda Wise in undisclosed roles. Captain Marvel is set for release at cinemas on March 6, 2019
