Game of Thrones prequel adds new cast and director

HBO has found their director for the pilot of the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel as Brit S.J. Clarkson has been added to the project, as well as eight new cast members!

If like me, you’re super excited for the last season of Game of Thrones but also don’t want it to end, then fear not, as this is the next project from George R.R. Martin as he teams up with Kingsman screenwriter Goldman. The prequel will be set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones in the era known as the “Age of Heroes.”

Clarkson has directed a number of television show episodes including Jessica Jones, The Defenders, Life on Mars and Orange is the New Black.

The newly-announced series regulars include Naomi Ackie (Yardie), Denise Gough (Colette), Jamie Campbell Bower (Twilight & Mortal Instruments), Sheila Atim (Twelfth Night), Ivanno Jeremiah (Humans & Black Mirror), Georgie Henley (The Chronicles of Narnia), Alex Sharp (To the Bone) and Toby Regbo (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald). They’ll join previously announced cast members Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse.

Here’s the plot synopsis: “the drama chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend … it’s not the story we think we know.”

Jane Goodman will serve as showrunner and will executive produce alongside Martin, James Farrel, Jim Danger Gray, Vince Gerardis and Daniel Zelman. Chris Symes is co-executive producer.
