Festival hit ‘Decision to Leave’ returns to cinemas this February

MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service and production company, has announced that following the film’s box office success last year, Park Chan-wook’s critically acclaimed Decision to Leave will return to cinemas on 13 February 2023 for one night only, accompanied by a new pre-recorded conversation between Park Chan-wook and Academy Award-winner Bong Joon Ho. 

The film, which won Best Director at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, has been shortlisted for Best International Feature at the 95th Academy Awards, nominated for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language at the Golden Globes, Best Foreign Language Film at the Critics’ Choice Awards, and Best International Film at the 2022 British Independent Film Awards and the Gotham Independent Film Awards.

Decision to Leave is also longlisted for four BAFTA Film Awards including Director, Original Screenplay, Editing and Film Not in the English Language. It has been included on numerous Best of the Year lists from outlets including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press, Rolling Stone, the Guardian, Sight and Sound, Film Comment, and more. 

A man falls from a mountain peak to his death. The detective in charge of the investigation, Hae-joon (Park Hae-il), comes to meet the dead man’s wife Seo-rae (Tang Wei). When she becomes a suspect, Hae-joon finds himself slowly developing an interest in her.
