Following the release of the exciting full-length Superman trailer, fans finally got their first proper glimpse at Krypto – Superman’s canine best friend – and he certainly looks like a very good boy!
With the trailer opening on a surprisingly injured Clark crashing into the snow, we see him whistling for his four-legged friend, with the adorable dog (complete with an identical red cape) bounding through the snow to help rescue him.
“Krypto – home. Take me home” Superman asks, before handing the dog his cape. However, the super powered pet appears surprisingly playful though, taking a good bark and sniff before obliging the wishes of his hurt friend.
In a recent Q&A with writer and director James Gunn, the new Co-Chairman and CEO of DC shed a light on what fans can expect from the Clark and Krypto’s dynamic.
“Well, I think you’ll see in the movie that Krypto probably comes off as a better dog in the trailer than he is in the movie – he’s a pretty terrible dog! You love them because, you know, he’s a dog and how can you not? And he’s got the cute innocent eyes”
“But he’s a terrible dog, and he is based on my dog, Ozu. Who actually, I was saying to my wife last night in bed, “We just got into a new house here,” and I’m like, “This has been kind of good since we got here. What’s going on with him?” And she said, “He’s getting a little bit older because he’s about three.” I’m like, “Oh, that’s interesting.
“He’s not so bad. He hasn’t torn up any of our furniture yet or anything. We’ll see!”
Roll on Summer 2025 for more adventures from the adorable super-powered Krypto, who’s undoubtedly going to steal the show!
