Aquaman: James Wan Discusses The Film’s Tone

James Wan has recently been promoting his upcoming horror films, The Conjuring 2 and Lights Out, at WonderCon on Saturday, but the director also took the time out to discuss his upcoming superhero project, Aquaman.

Following the very mixed reviews and criticism over the very dark and gritty tone in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, which premiered Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman, Wan highlights the fact that he wants to have fun with Aquaman.

“The kind of filmmaker that I am, even my darker horror films generally are still very fun,” Wan told IGN. “And I think that’s important for me and the kind of films I make.

“I think Aquaman is a character that a lot of people have made fun of over the years, and I just think it’s fun to actually show a really different, cool, badass side to this character,” he added. “But the same time, let’s not forget to have fun with it.”

Aquaman is set to land in cinemas July 27, 2018.
