Following the announcement at DC Fandome that Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Cyclone and Atom Smasher are going up against Black Adam, we now know who will be suiting up as one the Justice Society of America’s greatest heroes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Invisible Man and One Night in Miami star Aldis Hodge is in final negotiations to join the cast of Black Adam as Carter Hall aka Hawkman. The winged superhero had his 80th anniversary this year, originally created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Dennis Neville back in 1940 in Flash Comics #1.
Star Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to congratulate his new co-star:
Hawkman was originally an Ancient Egyptian prince who became cursed and found himself reincarnating over many years and on various worlds. He is a winged hero, harnessing the mysterious anti-gravity Nth Metal, which he controls mentally and allows him to fly. His current identity is as an archaeologist and museum curator turned adventurer.
Carter Hall is the second member of Black Adam’s Justice Society of America to be cast, following on the heels of Noah Centineo who landed the role of Atom Smasher earlier this year.
Hodge and Centineo will be going head to head with Dwayne Johnson as anti-hero/villain Black Adam, with Disney’s Jungle Cruise Jaume Collet-Serra directing.
Black Adam is due in cinemas on December 22, 2021.
